Q&A: Can you transfer an insurance policy to an office in a different town?
My husband and I have insurance through State Farm. We recently moved about an hour away from the office our insurance is through, though, and this makes things very inconvienent. There is a closer State Farm Office to where we are now living. Does anyone know if we can transfer our insurance policy to another State Farm Office closer to us without any sort of fee or rate change? (I don’t really enjoy dealing with the insurance office, so I don’t want to ask unless I know it can be done.)

yes. you can also just deal with headquarters thru the mail and not have to visit any office.

Do not contact the office you are leaving.

Instead, take your policy number (or the policy itself) into the new office. The transfer is a paperwork transaction. The gaining agent need only have te OA make the notification. (OA is Office Assistant.)

This is soooooo easy to do, you will have no difficulty; unless you try to make it hard.

Just go to the State Farm office that you want to use and tell them you need to transfer your policy. You’ll sign a form and State Farm will do the rest. As far as a rate change, State Farm will have different territories which all have different rates. Depending on where you’re moving from and where you’re moving to, the rates will change accordingly, up or down.
