Office Love: If a film showed what love is REALLY like, would it become a box office flop?
In films there is more often than not a “happily ever after” ending. Of course, the more intelligent folks out there know that that sort of thing never really happens, but we’re all suckers for a happy ending, aren’t we? If there were a film that showed what love and relationships were REALLY like, would it be a box office flop?

The following is the answer: (Hint: The answer is not necessarily.)

Hah! Yes, it would. Nobody wants to watch a couple sitting on the couch, him rubbing her feet while watching TV and her reading a book out aloud to him. For four hours straight.

yes people that, the whole reason they go to the movies is to escape reality

There are a lot more of “real love” stories out there these days. The 60′s and 70′s changed that.

The earliest classic I can think of that did it was The Apartment by Billy Wilder which won an award. Then you have The Graduate, and tons of movies from the 80′s own as well. Ever see Ordinary People or Kramer vs. Kramer?

Love may or may not be ended happily in real life . But a TRUE love ends happily always . A TRUE LOVE is defined for a happy ending always.
Sonnet 116 of shakespeare really describes it .
But of course as you have said now a days the films aren’t revealing TRUE love .But if a director wants to reveal it and if he’s got skill and experience then definitely the movie will be a hit

Hollywood is BS

Most people just want “love” handed to them automatically, baggage and all. It takes work, and patience, and persistence.

And when all that works out, it’s a blockbuster icon biggrin Office LoveIf a film showed what love is REALLY like, would it become a box office flop?

Answer by Carol
No, it would be a HUGE hit in the same way that people are fascinated by gory car accidents they pass on the highway.

No matter how horrible it is, we just can’t seem to help ourselves and keep looking anyway.

Answer by Scout
Kramer vs Kramer 1979 was a huge box office hit all about Divorce. While they did soften the ending a bit regarding custody of their child, the couple did not reconcile.

Answer by Smudgeward
Depends on for who, that’s where Woody Allen always scores, he takes great pathos and makes you see the funny side, he never ‘flops!’
Several times a year we see kissing couples celebrating their diamond 75th anniversaries so it can’t all be propaganda.
